Ballet Folklorico Adult and Youth Programs

Dance has always been about something more. Connecting cultures, generations, and celebrating history. Ballet Folklorico breaks generational barriers and brings beauty, history and discipline to help our children grow into wonderful, talented adults.

La Cultura

Baile Conmigo! Ballet folklorico has roots in the ceremonial and community dances of pre-Columbian indigenous peoples, evolving through the 17th and 18th centuries by incorporating Spanish colonial influences and later, African rhythms, to become a dynamic representation of Mexico's cultural history and diversity. The modern theatrical form was largely shaped by Amalia Hernández, who founded the Ballet Folklórico de México in 1952, transforming traditional folk dances into elaborate, choreographed performances that showcase regional folklore and promote Mexican culture.

Jorge Badillo

Jorge will be the main instructor for the folklorico dance classes. He has twenty years of experience as a dancer, instructor, choreographer, director, and producer. Linda Ronstadt, Mariachi Los Camperos, Mariachi Cobre, Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference, Ballet Folklórico de la Universidad de Colima, Ballet Folklorico Paso del Norte, and Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklorico de Texas are among some of the artists and companies I have worked with.
